Short answers to the questions new customers ask most. For setup and troubleshooting questions, see Frequently Asked Questions.
What is SkipCalls, in simple words?
SkipCalls gives you an AI receptionist that answers your calls, makes calls for you, and sends you a summary of what happened.
For example, it can:
answer your calls when you're busy or after hours
book appointments in your calendar
screen out spam and robocalls
call a business for you and ask your questions
Your receptionist does the talking. You read the result.
Which countries does SkipCalls work in?
SkipCalls works with phone numbers from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Israel, and Estonia. See In which countries is SkipCalls available? for the number types in each country.
How do incoming calls reach my receptionist?
SkipCalls does not replace your phone number. People keep calling the number they already know.
You turn on call forwarding on your phone, so calls go to your SkipCalls number only when you can't answer, for example:
when you don't pick up
when you're already on a call
when your phone is off or has no signal
Most people forward only missed and busy calls. You can also forward every call if you want your receptionist to answer first.
What does the caller see?
Nothing unusual. They dial your normal number, and your receptionist answers. They don't see your SkipCalls number.
Can I give customers my SkipCalls number directly?
Yes. If you want callers to reach your receptionist right away, share your SkipCalls number as your business line. Both ways work: keep your own number with forwarding, or use the SkipCalls number as your main line.
What can SkipCalls do for me?
Incoming calls
Filters out obvious spam.
Talks to real callers and answers their questions using your business information.
Takes their name, number, and reason for calling.
Books appointments in your connected calendar.
Connects the caller to you or a teammate when needed.
Sends you a summary so you know what they wanted.
Outgoing calls
You describe the task: who to call and what to find out.
Your receptionist makes the call now or at the time you choose.
Afterwards you get a summary, the full transcript, and key details like prices, times, and names.
Text messages
Texts the caller after a call, for example "Thanks for calling, reply here if you have questions."
Can reply to incoming texts on your SkipCalls number, follow your instructions, and keep the conversation going.
Can hold replies for your approval before sending.
Calls, texts, summaries, and transcripts are all saved in your account so you can check them later.
Do texts work with call forwarding?
No. Phone carriers forward calls, not text messages. If someone texts your personal number, SkipCalls can't see it.
For your receptionist to handle texts, customers need to text your SkipCalls number. The easiest way: let your receptionist send a text after each call. When the caller replies, they're texting your SkipCalls number.
A few things to know:
Toll-free numbers can't send or receive texts. Use a Local number for texting.
AI replies to incoming texts are included on web plans and on the app's PRO plan.
You can read every conversation and jump in with your own message at any time.
Set up the after-call text in Follow-ups.
Which languages does my receptionist speak?
English works best. Your receptionist can also switch to the caller's language. See What languages does SkipCalls support?
Is my data private?
Recordings and transcripts are stored securely.
Only you, and teammates you invite, can see your calls and texts.
We do not sell your personal information.
You can delete individual calls yourself, or delete your whole account (see below).
What if my receptionist gets something wrong?
You stay in control:
Open the call in your call history and read the transcript to see what went wrong.
Update your receptionist's instructions, for example "always ask for the address" or "don't offer discounts".
Call your SkipCalls number yourself to test the new behavior.
If you're not sure how to phrase an instruction, message our support team and we'll help.
Is there a limit on minutes or calls?
Yes. Every plan includes a set amount of usage:
The app's Starter and PRO plans include calls under our Fair Usage Policy, up to 200 calls per month.
The web Starter plan has no monthly minute cap.
Growth, Business, and Enterprise (web) include a set number of minutes each month: 250, 450, and 1,200.
If you need more, you can upgrade, buy extra minutes in Billing, or ask us to turn on automatic overage. See Keep calls and messages working with automatic overage.
How much does SkipCalls cost?
See current plans at skipcalls.com/pricing. To see your own plan:

On the web: Billing in the left menu
Can I use SkipCalls for my business?
Yes, that's what most customers do. SkipCalls works well for salons and barbers, electricians and plumbers, auto shops, clinics and wellness, real estate, and solo professionals.
For a business, SkipCalls becomes your receptionist, voicemail, booking assistant, and spam shield. You decide your business hours, the services you offer, what details to collect, and what your receptionist should never say or promise.
How do I delete my account?
In the app:
Go to Settings.
Tap Profile & Account.
Tap Delete Account and confirm.
On the web: click your name at the bottom of the left menu to open your profile, then choose Delete Account.
This permanently deletes your account and its data, including recordings, transcripts, and settings. It can't be undone.
Important: deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it first to avoid future charges. More in How do I delete my SkipCalls account?
