Follow-ups let your receptionist send a helpful text to the caller after a call ends. You can let the AI write a personal message for each call, send the same default message every time, or use both.
Smart Follow-ups
With Smart Follow-ups on, SkipCalls reads the finished conversation along with your Business Profile. If there is something useful to send, like a confirmation, a reminder, or information the caller asked for, it writes and sends a personal text.
If nothing useful came up in the call, no Smart Follow-up is sent.
You can add optional custom instructions, such as:
Always include a link to your website.
Sign messages as "The Acme Team".
Remind callers which documents to bring.
Leave custom instructions empty for fully automatic follow-ups.
To keep messages accurate, Smart Follow-ups only use the website and phone number saved in your profile, your SkipCalls numbers, or links and numbers you write in your custom instructions. They don't make up links or numbers.
If a caller shares their email address, the follow-up may be sent by email instead of text. Callers who reach you through your website chat or voice widget can only get an email follow-up, and only if they shared their email.
Default text
The default text is a fixed message, up to 200 characters, that is the same for every caller. It's useful for sharing a booking link or a thank-you note.
With Smart Follow-ups on, the default text is sent only when the AI has nothing specific to say.
With Smart Follow-ups off, the default text is sent after every incoming call.
Leave the default text empty if you only want personal messages.
In the mobile app, you can also turn on Text callers who hang up early. It sends your default text even when the caller hangs up before speaking.

Related text settings
These are on the same Text & SMS tab (on the Follow-ups screen in the mobile app), but they are separate from after-call follow-ups.
Send texts during calls (mobile: Texts during calls): your receptionist can text the caller during the call, for example a confirmation, an address, or a link. To control what it sends, add rules to your call instructions.
Reply to text messages (mobile: AI Auto-Reply): when someone texts your SkipCalls number, your receptionist answers questions and handles bookings by text. You can add extra rules for texts, send replies instantly or wait for your review, and add a short delay so replies feel more natural.
Good to know
Follow-ups need a SkipCalls phone number that can send texts.
Test calls and spam calls don't get follow-up texts.
A caller never gets both a Smart Follow-up text and the default text for the same call.
If a Lead Alert called your team about a caller, Smart Follow-ups may also send that caller a short status update.
