Receptionist behavior
My receptionist mispronounces my name. How do I fix it?
Add the pronunciation to your receptionist's instructions, for example: My name is Dr. Amir Khalighi (pronounced "Khah-lee-ghee"). Your receptionist will follow your pronunciation guide.
My receptionist ignores my instructions. How should I write them?
Be direct and specific. Instead of "try to mention my name correctly", write: ALWAYS introduce yourself as "Alex's Assistant". Never use my full name. Put the most important rules first, and use clear words like ALWAYS, NEVER, or MUST.
My receptionist answered in another language. Why?
In Multilingual mode, your receptionist replies in the caller's language. If most of your callers speak English, switch to English Only. See Voice Language Setting.
How do I change the greeting?
On the web: open your receptionist, go to Call Script, and edit Opening Messages.
In the app: go to Settings, tap your receptionist at the top, then Instructions & Greetings.
Keep the greeting short and friendly.
Plans and billing
Are calls or minutes unlimited?
No. The web Starter plan has no monthly minute cap. The app's Starter and PRO plans include up to 200 calls per month under our Fair Usage Policy. Web Growth, Business, and Enterprise plans include 250, 450, and 1,200 minutes per month. You can upgrade, buy extra minutes, or ask us about automatic overage.
How much does a subscription cost?
See skipcalls.com/pricing. Your current plan is in Settings → Profile & Account → Subscription in the app, or Billing on the web.
Can I get a free trial extension?
Message our support team from the app or the web dashboard. We look at each request individually.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Bought in the iPhone app: Apple manages it. Open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → SkipCalls → Cancel Subscription.
Bought in the Android app: Google manages it. Open Google Play → your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → SkipCalls → Cancel subscription.
Bought on the web: go to Billing in the left menu and choose Cancel Subscription.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription, so cancel first.
Features
Can some people skip the receptionist and reach me directly?
Calls you answer yourself never reach your receptionist. Only forwarded calls do. For forwarded calls, you can tell your receptionist to connect certain people right away, for example: If the caller says they are [Name], transfer them to me immediately. This needs Call Transfer to be set up.
Can my receptionist book appointments?
Yes. Connect your calendar and your receptionist checks your availability and books for you.
In the app: Settings → Integrations → Connect Calendar (Google, Outlook, or Apple).
On the web: Tools & Setup → Appointments → Connect calendar. The web also supports Calendly, Cal.com, Square, GoHighLevel, and TidyCal.
See Appointment Booking.
Will my receptionist transfer callers to me?
Yes, once Call Transfer is set up. Your receptionist can connect the caller straight to you, or brief you first and then connect them. See Call Transfer and Warm vs Direct (Cold) Transfer.
Can my receptionist answer text messages?
Yes, for texts sent to your SkipCalls number (carriers don't forward texts from your personal number). Texting after a call works on every plan. AI replies to incoming texts are included on web plans and on the app's PRO plan. Toll-free numbers can't text.
Notifications
How do I get instant notifications about calls?
Allow notifications for SkipCalls in your phone's settings. You'll be notified about new calls and messages. To choose what you get, open Settings → App Settings → Notifications in the app.
Can I get an email after each call?
Yes. On the web, click your name at the bottom of the left menu and open Notifications to choose which emails you get. In the app, you can also turn on a Daily Recap under Settings → App Settings → Notifications.
Countries and carriers
Which countries are supported?
The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Israel, and Estonia. See In which countries is SkipCalls available?
My country isn't on the list. Can I still use SkipCalls?
Not yet. Message our support team to let us know where you are. It helps us decide where to launch next.
My carrier isn't listed. Can I still use SkipCalls?
Most carriers support standard call forwarding codes. Try the general codes in the setup guide, or message our support team for help with your carrier.
Troubleshooting
I'm not receiving the verification code. What should I do?
Check your text messages app, not just notifications.
Wait 2 minutes, then request a new code.
Make sure your number is correct, including the country code.
Internet phone numbers (like Google Voice) can be slow. Try a regular mobile number if you have one.
The test call says "unsuccessful", but forwarding looks active. Why?
Forwarding is often set up correctly and the test was just early. Call your number from a different phone and don't answer. If your receptionist picks up, you're all set.
Calls go to my regular voicemail instead of my receptionist. What's wrong?
Your carrier's voicemail is picking up before the call is forwarded. Set up "no answer" forwarding with a shorter ring time (about 10–15 seconds), or turn off carrier voicemail. Message our support team if you need help with your carrier.
