How Email receptionist works

Receive customer emails in Messages, choose who replies, and connect your existing inbox.

Written by Nikita Podelenko

Email receptionist brings customer emails into SkipCalls, alongside your text conversations in Messages. It helps you keep track of enquiries and choose whether to reply yourself or let your receptionist reply.

How it works

  1. Create an address for your receptionist. This is a SkipCalls receiving address, not your personal email address.

  2. Forward customer emails to it. Set up forwarding in your current email provider.

  3. Read and reply in Messages. Forwarded emails appear as email conversations in SkipCalls.

Choose who replies

New mailboxes start with AI replies off, so you write and send replies yourself.

If your plan includes AI replies, you can turn them on in Email receptionist settings. Your receptionist uses its existing call and text instructions, plus any email reply instructions you add. Save your choice to apply it.

Sender name and Email signature are optional. They apply to both your replies and AI replies.

Set up forwarding

Copy the receptionist's address from Email receptionist settings, then follow the steps for your email provider:

After setup, send a test email to your original inbox and check that it appears in SkipCalls Messages.

If you change the receptionist's address

Update your email provider's forwarding settings to use the new address. Emails forwarded to the old address will no longer reach your receptionist.
