Keep calls and messages working with automatic overage
Your SkipCalls plan may include a set number of call minutes. You can also buy additional minute packages in Billing. Purchased minutes stay in your account until you use them.
If you would rather keep your receptionist available when the included and purchased minutes run out, ask our team to enable automatic overage for call minutes. You can also enable it for customer messages when you need to send beyond your daily messaging allowance. These are separate options, so you can choose one or both.
How call-minute overage works
SkipCalls uses your available trial, subscription, and purchased minutes first. If those are exhausted and call-minute overage is enabled, eligible calls can continue. Only the extra minutes are charged at the rate agreed for your account. Call-minute overage pricing is discussed individually and can start from $0.15 per minute, depending on your call volume. Our team confirms your rate before enabling it. Without overage or additional minutes, calls may stop being accepted until minutes become available again.
How message overage works
Your daily customer-messaging allowance adjusts with your call volume. It is designed for normal follow-ups after calls; it is not a fixed monthly SMS bundle or a promise of a particular number of texts for every call. If message overage is enabled and you go beyond your day's allowance, additional outbound SMS segments are billed at your account's overage rate. Incoming texts are not charged as overage. Long messages can contain more than one billable segment.
Choose a monthly spending cap
When our team enables overage, you choose a maximum monthly spend for call minutes and/or messages. You can review usage, the rate, and spending against each cap in Billing → Overage charges. When a cap is reached, extra usage stops being authorized. A call or message already in progress can take the final total slightly past the cap.
Overage charges are collected from your saved card when the current month's unpaid extra usage reaches $50, or after the month closes. This is a billing threshold, not an extra fee or a $50 minimum purchase. Amounts below $1 carry forward. If a charge fails or there is no usable payment method, new overage usage pauses until billing is resolved.
How to get started
Contact SkipCalls support and tell us whether you want automatic overage for call minutes, customer messages, or both, and the monthly cap you want for each. We will confirm the applicable rates and enable the options on your account. You need an active subscription and a valid payment method. You can continue buying minute packages yourself instead of enabling call-minute overage.
