Use My Own Phone Number for Outbound Calls

What is "Use My Own Number"?

By default, when your AI agent makes outbound calls, the recipient sees a SkipCalls phone number on their caller ID. With Use My Own Number, you can make calls show your real business number instead — so customers recognize who's calling.

How it works

  1. You tell us which phone number you want to use

  2. We call that number with a short verification code

  3. You answer and type the code on your phone keypad

  4. Once verified, you can assign the number to any of your agents

Your phone number stays with your current carrier — we don't move or change anything. We just verify you own it so we can display it as caller ID on outbound calls.

Step 1: Verify your number

  1. Go to Phone Numbers in the left menu

  2. Click Use My Number in the top right

  3. Enter your business phone number and an optional label (e.g. "Main Office")

  4. Click Verify This Number

Step 2: Enter the verification code

After you click verify:

  1. Pick up your phone — you'll receive a call within a few seconds

  2. Listen to the automated message — it will ask you to enter a code

  3. Type the 6-digit code on your phone keypad — the code is shown on screen

  4. Wait for confirmation — you'll hear "Thank you, your number has been verified"

  5. Click Refresh next to your number in the dialog — the status will change to "Ready"

Step 3: Assign to an agent

  1. Go to Agents and open the agent you want to update

  2. On the General tab, scroll down to Call From My Number

  3. Select your verified number from the dropdown

  4. Changes save automatically

From now on, all outbound calls made by that agent will display your number as the caller ID.

Good to know

  • Incoming calls are not affected — your phone number stays on your current carrier and continues to receive calls normally

  • You can verify up to 2 numbers per hour

  • One number can be used by multiple agents — assign the same verified number to as many agents as you like

  • You can remove a verified number anytime — agents using it will automatically fall back to their assigned SkipCalls number

  • Landlines work too — you just need to be able to answer the verification call and type the code on the keypad

Troubleshooting

I didn't receive the verification call
Make sure the number is correct and your phone is on. Try again — you can request verification up to 2 times per hour.

I entered the code but it still says "Pending"
Click the refresh button next to your number. If it still shows pending after a minute, try verifying again.

My number shows as "Failed"
The verification timed out (5 minutes). Click Verify again to start a new attempt.

I can't find the "Call From My Number" option in agent settings
It's on the General tab (the first tab when you open an agent). Scroll down past the Voice section. If you don't see it, make sure you have at least one verified number.
