How to Connect Google Fi to SkipCalls

Overview

Google Fi requires call forwarding to be set up through the Google Fi app or fi.google.com — standard dialer codes and device settings will NOT work.

This guide walks you through connecting your Google Fi number to SkipCalls so your AI receptionist answers your calls.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open Google Fi Settings

  • Open the Google Fi app on your phone, or go to fi.google.com on your computer

  • In the "Home" tab, find "Phone settings"

  • Select "Call forwarding"

2. Add Your SkipCalls Number

  • Tap "Add a number"

  • Enter your SkipCalls phone number (you can find it in the SkipCalls app under your agent settings)

3. Verify the Number

  • Google Fi will ask you to verify the number — choose the "verify by call" option (not SMS)

  • Google Fi will call your SkipCalls number with the verification code

  • Your SkipCalls AI receptionist will answer the call and transcribe the code for you

  • Open the SkipCalls app, find the verification call transcript, and copy the code

  • Enter the verification code in Google Fi and confirm

4. Choose Your Forwarding Preference

Select "Ring all numbers" — this is the recommended option for SkipCalls.

  • Ring all numbers (recommended) — Your phone and SkipCalls ring at the same time. If you don't pick up, your AI receptionist answers the call.

  • Always forward — All calls go directly to SkipCalls. Your phone will NOT ring at all. Only use this if you never want to answer calls yourself.

  • Don't forward — Forwarding is off, only your phone rings.

We recommend "Ring all numbers" so you can still answer important calls yourself, while your AI receptionist handles the ones you miss.

5. Save Your Settings

  • Click Save to apply your selection

  • That's it! Calls to your Google Fi number will now also ring your SkipCalls AI receptionist

Testing Your Setup

Call your Google Fi number from another phone and don't pick up:

  • Both your phone and SkipCalls should ring simultaneously

  • If you don't answer, your AI receptionist picks up

  • You receive a transcript and summary in the SkipCalls app

Changing or Removing Forwarding

To change your preference:

  • Open the Google Fi app or go to fi.google.com

  • Go to Home, Phone settings, Call forwarding

  • Select a new forwarding preference and click Save

To remove a forwarding number:

  • Open Call forwarding settings

  • Tap the pencil icon next to the number you want to remove

  • Select Remove

Troubleshooting

Dialer codes don't work with Google Fi

  • Google Fi does NOT support standard dialer codes (like *72 or **21*). You must use the Fi app or fi.google.com to set up forwarding.

Calls not forwarding after setup?

  • Confirm your forwarding preference is set to "Ring all numbers"

  • Check that your SkipCalls number appears in the forwarding list

  • Wait a few minutes — changes can take up to 5 minutes to take effect

iPhone users — disable Live Voicemail:

  • Go to iPhone Settings, Phone, Live Voicemail and turn it OFF

  • Live Voicemail can intercept calls before they reach SkipCalls
