What Are Closing Phrases?
A closing phrase is a custom goodbye message that your AI receptionist automatically says at the end of every incoming call. Instead of a generic "Thank you, have a great day!", your agent will deliver a personalized, branded sign-off that reinforces your business identity.
Closing phrases only apply to incoming calls. Outbound calls use their own conversation flow.
Why Use a Closing Phrase?
Brand consistency — Every caller hears your business name before hanging up
Set expectations — Promise a callback timeframe so callers know what to expect
Professional touch — A polished sign-off makes your AI receptionist feel more human
Examples
"Thanks for calling Sunset Plumbing! We'll have someone get back to you within the hour."
"Thank you for reaching out to River City Law. An attorney will review your message and contact you shortly."
"Thanks for calling Dr. Martin's office! We'll confirm your appointment by text."

How It Works
When a caller says goodbye or finishes their request, your AI receptionist will naturally deliver your closing phrase before ending the call. The agent adapts the phrasing slightly to sound natural in conversation, while always including the key parts — your business name, promises, and any commitments you've written.
If the call was conducted in a language other than English (e.g., Spanish or French), the closing phrase will be spoken in that same language.
Tips for a Great Closing Phrase
Include your business name — Reinforces who they called
Set a callback expectation — "within the hour", "within 24 hours", "shortly"
Keep it concise — You have 200 characters. One or two sentences is ideal
Don't repeat the greeting — The closing phrase is for goodbyes, not introductions
What Happens Without a Closing Phrase?
If you leave it empty, your receptionist will use a simple, natural goodbye like "Thank you for calling. Have a great day!" — polite, but not personalized to your business.
