You will use:
the Google Voice mobile app to add and verify your SkipCalls number;
a desktop computer at voice.google.com to finish the required call settings.
Important: Google Voice forwarding rules and some call settings must be configured on a desktop computer. The mobile website does not reliably support this setup, even if you request the desktop version of the site.
Before You Start
You need an active Google Voice account.
You need your SkipCalls phone number. You can find it in SkipCalls Settings or on your Dashboard.
Install the Google Voice mobile app.
Have access to a desktop or laptop computer for the final settings.
Part 1: Add SkipCalls as a Linked Number
Open the Google Voice app on your phone.
Sign in with the Google account that has your Google Voice number.
Tap the menu icon in the top left.
Go to Settings.
Tap Linked numbers.
Tap New linked number.
Enter your SkipCalls phone number.
Part 2: Verify Your SkipCalls Number
When Google asks you to verify the number, choose Verify by phone call.
Do not choose SMS verification. Google will call your SkipCalls number and read a verification code. SkipCalls will answer the call and save the code in the call transcription.
Wait for the Google verification call to complete.
Open your SkipCalls app.
Go to your call history.
Find the recent call from Google.
Open the transcription and copy the verification code.
Enter the code in Google Voice.
If the Google verification call does not appear in SkipCalls
If the Google verification call does not appear in SkipCalls
Sometimes Google verification calls are marked as spam and can be blocked by SkipCalls before they reach your call history.
If you do not receive the verification call in SkipCalls:
Open the SkipCalls app.
Go to Settings.
Open Advanced Settings.
Turn off Block Known Spam Numbers.
Try the Google Voice verification call again.
After verification is complete, you can turn Block Known Spam Numbers back on if you want.
Part 3: Finish Google Voice Call Settings on a Computer
After your SkipCalls number is verified, use a desktop or laptop computer for the remaining Google Voice settings.
Go to voice.google.com on your computer.
Click the Settings icon.
Open the Calls section.
Under Call forwarding, make sure your SkipCalls number is turned on.
Turn Screen calls off.
Turn off Show my Google Voice number as caller ID when forwarding calls.
These settings let SkipCalls answer directly and show the real caller's phone number instead of your Google Voice number.
Optional: Custom Forwarding Rules
Optional: Custom Forwarding Rules
Only use custom rules if you want specific Google contacts or contact groups to behave differently.
Custom forwarding rules must be created or edited on a desktop computer at voice.google.com.
If you create a rule for SkipCalls:
Test Your Setup
Call your Google Voice number from another phone.
What should happen:
The call forwards to SkipCalls.
You do not hear a Google Voice screening prompt.
SkipCalls answers directly.
SkipCalls shows the real caller's phone number.
