Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about SkipCalls.

AI Behavior

The AI mispronounces my name. How do I fix it?

Add phonetic spelling to your instructions. In your agent's Instructions field, write something like: My name is Dr. Amir Khalighi (pronounced "Khah-lee-ghee"). You can also spell it out: Say my name as "Doctor Ah-meer Khah-lee-ghee". The AI will follow your pronunciation guide.

The AI ignores my instructions. What format should I use?

Be direct and specific. Instead of "try to mention my name correctly", write: ALWAYS introduce yourself as "Alex's Assistant" - never use my full name Alexander Tretjakov. Put critical rules at the top of your instructions, and use clear commands like ALWAYS, NEVER, or MUST.

The AI started speaking in another language. Why?

The AI matches the caller's language. If someone speaks Spanish, it responds in Spanish. To force English only, add to your instructions: ALWAYS respond in English, even if the caller speaks another language.

How do I change the greeting message?

Go to your agent settings and edit the Greeting field. This is what the AI says when it first answers. Keep it short and professional.

Pricing & Plans

Is this unlimited calls/minutes?

Check your current plan in the app under Settings → Subscription. Plans vary — some include unlimited minutes, others are usage-based. You can view exact limits and upgrade options there.

How much does subscription cost?

Pricing depends on your plan. Check skipcalls.com/pricing for current options, or view your plan details in Settings → Subscription.

Can I get a free trial extension?

Contact our support team through the app chat. We evaluate extension requests on a case-by-case basis.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Subscription → Cancel. If you have issues, contact support through the in-app chat.

Features

Can my contacts bypass the AI and ring through directly?

Currently, all forwarded calls go to the AI first. However, you can instruct the AI to immediately transfer calls from specific people: add to your instructions If the caller says they are [Name], transfer them immediately without screening.

Can the AI book appointments for me?

Yes! Connect your Google Calendar in Settings → Integrations. The AI can check your availability and book appointments directly. Set your available hours so the AI knows when you're free.

Will the AI transfer calls to me if the caller asks?

Yes, if you have Call Transfer configured. The AI will put the caller on hold, call you with a brief summary, and connect you if you accept. See our Call Transfer guide for setup.

Can the AI answer texts/SMS too?

SMS features are available on select plans. Check your subscription settings for availability.

Notifications

How do I get instant notifications about calls?

Make sure push notifications are enabled for SkipCalls in your phone settings. You'll get notified for missed calls, messages, and completed calls. You can also enable email summaries in app settings.

Can I get a recap email after each call?

Yes! Enable email notifications in Settings → Notifications. You'll receive summaries with transcripts and key details.

International & Compatibility

What countries are supported?

SkipCalls currently supports US and Canada phone numbers. International expansion is in progress — contact support to express interest in your region.

Can I use SkipCalls in Australia/UK/New Zealand?

Not yet, but we're working on it. Join our waitlist by contacting support.

My carrier isn't listed. Can I still use SkipCalls?

Most carriers work with standard call forwarding codes. Try the generic codes in our setup guide, or contact support for help with your specific carrier.

Troubleshooting

I'm not receiving the verification code. What do I do?

Try these steps: 1) Check your SMS inbox (not just notifications), 2) Wait 2 minutes and request again, 3) Make sure your phone number is correct with country code, 4) Try a different phone number if available. Some VoIP numbers (like Google Voice) may have delays.

The test call says "unsuccessful" but forwarding shows as active. Why?

This usually means forwarding is set up, but there's a timing issue. Try calling your number from a different phone to verify. If the AI answers, you're good — the test feature can sometimes give false negatives.

Calls go to my regular voicemail instead of the AI. What's wrong?

Your carrier voicemail is intercepting calls before they reach SkipCalls. You need to disable carrier voicemail or set up "No Answer" forwarding with a shorter ring time (10-15 seconds). See our Troubleshooting guide for carrier-specific instructions.
