Setting Up Your AI Receptionist
This guide explains how to set up call forwarding so your AI receptionist can answer calls on your behalf.
How It Works
SkipCalls works by forwarding your unanswered calls to our AI receptionist. When someone calls and you don't pick up, the call is redirected to your personal SkipCalls number where the AI answers professionally.
Starting the Setup
To begin setup:
Open the SkipCalls app
Go to the Settings tab
Tap on Setup & Support
Follow the guided setup wizard
Select Your Carrier
The app will ask you to select your mobile carrier (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.). We have pre-configured forwarding codes for most major carriers.
If your carrier isn't listed, tap "My carrier isn't here" and use our AI-powered search to find the correct forwarding codes for your provider.
Choose Forwarding Type
You can choose how calls are forwarded:
All Unanswered Calls: Forwards calls when you don't answer, are busy, or out of reach (recommended)
When Busy: Only forwards when you're on another call
When Unreachable: Only forwards when your phone is off or has no signal
No Answer: Only forwards after your phone rings for a set time
Dial the Forwarding Code
The app will display a code to dial on your phone. For example:
*61*+1234567890#
Simply tap the code to open your phone dialer with it pre-filled, then press call. You'll hear a confirmation tone or message from your carrier.
For iPhone Users: Disable Live Voicemail
If you're on iOS 17 or later, you need to disable Apple's Live Voicemail feature for SkipCalls to work properly:
Open Settings on your iPhone
Go to Phone β Live Voicemail
Turn off Live Voicemail
This ensures calls are forwarded to SkipCalls instead of Apple's built-in voicemail.
Test Your Setup
After completing the setup, we recommend testing:
Go to Settings β Setup & Support
Tap Test Call
The app will call your phone β let it ring without answering
Your AI receptionist should pick up and greet you
Troubleshooting
If calls aren't being forwarded:
Make sure you dialed the forwarding code correctly
Check that your carrier supports call forwarding
Verify Live Voicemail is disabled (iPhone only)
Try dialing the cancellation code first, then re-enable forwarding
