How to Set Up Your Business Profile

Your Business Profile is a simple question-and-answer catalog that helps your AI agent know basic facts about your business. It's the fastest way to get your agent ready to answer calls without needing to upload or format complex documents.

Business Profile vs. Knowledge Base

While both systems provide information to your AI agent, they serve different purposes. Here is a quick comparison to help you choose the right one for your needs:

When to use Business Profile:

  • You need quick answers to common questions.

  • You have straightforward business info (hours, location, basic pricing).

  • You're just getting started with SkipCalls.

  • You don't have many documents to upload.

When to use Knowledge Base instead:

  • You have extensive documentation (e.g., employee manuals).

  • You need the AI to search through large, complex files.

  • You have detailed product catalogs or technical manuals.

How to Access

You can find the Business Profile in the main navigation menu on the left side of your dashboard.

Getting Started

  1. Navigate to Business Profile.

  2. Select your Industry: Choose the category that best fits your business (e.g., Dental, Restaurant, Real Estate). If your business doesn't fit a specific category, select Common.

  3. Review Templates: You'll see a list of pre-made questions relevant to your industry.

  4. Provide Answers: Click on a question and enter the information about YOUR business.

  5. Save: Click Save after each answer to update your profile.

Available Industry Categories:

We provide specialized question templates for various industries, including:

  • Common: General business questions suitable for any industry.

  • Dental: Questions about insurance, procedures, and emergency care.

  • Restaurant: Questions about the menu, reservations, and dietary options.

  • Real Estate: Questions about listings, viewing schedules, and agent details.

  • ...and many more!

Adding Custom Q&A

If you have specific information that isn't covered by our templates, you can easily add your own questions:

  1. Click the Add Custom Question button.

  2. Enter the Question: Think about what customers typically ask (e.g., "Do you have free parking?").

  3. Enter the Answer: Provide the exact information you want the agent to say.

  4. Click Add to save your custom Q&A.

Tips for Excellent Answers

  • Speak Naturally: Write answers exactly as you'd want your agent to speak to a customer.

  • Be Clear and Complete: Avoid ambiguity. Provide all necessary details in the answer.

  • Maintain Tone: Use a friendly, professional tone that matches your brand.

Example:

Question: "What are your business hours?"

Good Answer: "We're open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. We're closed on Sundays. Feel free to call during business hours or leave a message anytime!"

Connecting to Your Agents

Once your profile is set up, you must enable it for your agents:

  1. Go to Agents and select your agent.

  2. Click on the Knowledge tab.

  3. Toggle Business Profile to ON.

Your agent will now use the information from your Business Profile to answer caller questions!

Progress Tracking

In the Business Profile dashboard, you can track your progress. You'll see a percentage or count of how many template questions you've answered, helping you ensure your profile is comprehensive.

Quick Reference

Remember, the Business Profile is completely free for all SkipCalls users. It is the foundation of your agent's knowledge—spend a few minutes filling it out to significantly improve your agent's performance.
